Music Genre: Rock

Rock music evolved primarily from the blues and country music in the 1950’s before becoming popular in the 60’s. Since the 70’s numerous sub genres have been created such as heavy metal and Britpop, these are often shaped by the influence of other genres. The main instrument used is the guitar either electric or acoustic which is often played by the lead vocalist. This is ordinarily accompanied with drums, bass guitar and the keyboard to create a strong back beat.

Augustana - Stars And Boulevards

- The female is dressed in a mini skirt and is wearing heavy make up with red boots which have connotations of promiscuity.

- The close up of her legs corresponds with the concept of the male gaze, that males are more interested in females bodies therefore their eyes are immediately drawn to the females legs.

- Despite this there are numerous shots of her face which could signify that the male cares more about her emotions than her body. In these shots the sun is often shining behind her which I think could symbolise the idea of like needing the sun to live he needs her.
