Bombay Bicycle Club fans cause havoc at Reading Festival
Fans pack out the tent in anticipation of their set
August 28, 2009

Bombay Bicycle Club packed out Reading Festival's Festival Republic tent tonight, with many fans rushing to the front barriers as they took to the stage.

The band had earlier teased the audience by setting up their own equipment while the crowd were waiting after The Big Pink's set had finished.

They stoked the frenzied atmosphere even more by waving and clapping in the fans' direction as they set up. Even before the band had come onstage to start their set properly, fans were chanting "BBC" over and over.

With the tent heaving, Bombay Bicycle Club finally entered the stage to play their set - to mass audience applause.

Showcasing tracks from debut album 'I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose', the band won over the audience instantly with a fast-paced version of 'How Are You?'.

A double whammy of 'Open House' and 'Down On The Ground' caused further scenes of havoc among the audience, with those in the middle of the crowd forming a large circle moshpit and pushing each other into it.

Before playing 'Evening/Morning', frontman Jack Steadman remarked, "It's good to see you again" to the audience, adding that this is the third year in a row that Bombay Bicycle Club have played Reading Festival.

The band ended their set with a mass singalong to album favourite 'Cancel On Me'.

This article represents Bombay Bicycle Club in a complimentary fashion for it highlights the excitement they provoke in a mass audience furthermore as the article appears in NME, a credible magazine, it entices people to take an interest in their music and assures them that attending one of their gigs would be a worthwhile experience. The atmosphere being described in the article is what we would hope to recreate in our party scene so maybe playing some Bombay Bicycle Club during our shoot will be a good way to incite our cast. This kind of coverage, in a magazine of this style, is the kind of publicity we are angling for as we want to create a similar image to many of the bands presented in this magazine.
