The audience can be referred to as a mass as wherever they are in the world they are receiving exactly the same thing whether it is a photograph, soundbyte or film. Nowadays we cannot go through a day without encountering at least one form of media which has the power to manipulate us persuading us to buy products and behave in different ways.
Herbert Blumer in 1950 (5 years after world war two and Hitler’s use of media propaganda) referred to the audience as anonymous individuals who have little interaction with each other and come from different class positions, wealth, vocation and culture. By uploading our finished music video to YouTube we will create an audience that represents this idea as they are unlikely to know each other or have similar backgrounds.
